Cherupushpa Mission League (CML)

The Cherupushpa Mission League is an indigenous lay missionary organization, established on 3rd October 1947 at Bharananganam, in the diocese of Palai (Then diocese of Changanacherry) Kerala, S. India. Bharananganam is a pilgrim centre, where pilgrims from all over India, come in flocks to pray at the tomb of St. Sr. Alphonsa.

The Cherupuspa Mission League (CML) is an organization which fosters and promotes the missionary mentality of God’s children. CML was formed in churches all over Kerala to pay tribute to Saint Therese of Lisieux. Saint Theresa, also known as Saint of Little Flower was deeply devoted to God and prayer at a very young age. At age fifteen, Saint Therese entered the Carmelite religious order. As a Carmelite, St. Therese deeply prayed for all missions of the world. She is always remembered on mission Sunday. Nine years after she became a Carmelite sister, Therese died of a terrible bout and tuberculosis. One of the last things she said was the following: “I will spend my heaven doing good on earth”.

The cherupushpa Mission league is going to start it’s St. Alphonsa Cathedral unit very soon. If you are interested, please contact Fr. Mathew Kochupurackal or Joby Philip or Benny Joseph. As it is a new Organization of our parish, CML plans to be strong, interactive body of youngsters. Through our faith and actions, CML hopes to eventually grow into a prayerfully prominent pious organization of the Syro Malabar Cathedral Parish of Melbourne.
